Sign in and account
How signing in works, two-factor authentication, the inactivity timeout, switching organisations, and what to do when you cannot get in.
Valutico VDR has its own sign-in, separate from the Valutico valuation platform. This guide covers how it works and the handful of things, from company networks to two-factor codes, that stop people getting in.
Essential concepts
- Email and password is the default. Your email address is your username; the app trims and lower-cases it, so capitals do not matter. Passwords need at least 8 characters with upper and lower case, a number and a symbol.
- Google and Valutico sign-in are offered on the same page when your organisation has them enabled. They send you to Google or to Valutico's identity provider and back. The Valutico option is single sign-on, not your valuation-platform password typed into this app.
- Organisations. Your account can belong to several organisations, each with its own projects, and to Deal Portals of other companies that invited you as a buyer. After sign-in you land in your organisation, or on Where would you like to continue? when there is more than one destination.
- Two-factor authentication uses an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy. You can switch it on for yourself under Profile › Security; an admin can make it mandatory for the whole organisation, in which case the app takes you to the setup screen the next time you sign in.
- Inactivity timeout. After a period without activity, 20 minutes unless your admin changed it, the app warns you with Are you still there? and a countdown, then signs you out. Uploads, running jobs and AI conversations count as activity, so a long upload does not sign you out.

Your profile and settings
Profile, in the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, holds your name, picture, position and location, your organisation's name (editable by admins), and the Security section. Admins also see the two organisation-wide settings there: Require MFA for organization and Inactivity timeout, which accepts 20 minutes to 48 hours.
The same account menu switches the interface Language (English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish), offers Switch Organization, which lists your Organizations with any pending invitations, opens Billing, and holds Sign out.

Switching organisations and accepting invitations
When another organisation invites you, the invitation appears under Switch Organization in the account menu with a red dot on the sidebar icon, and as a link in the email you received. Accepting it adds the organisation to your account; your existing organisations stay where they are. The switch takes a few seconds while the new workspace is prepared. If the new organisation requires two-factor authentication and you have none, you set it up before entering.
A link to a project only opens for a colleague who is signed in to the same organisation. Someone in a different organisation, or signed in to another destination, sees nothing rather than an error; ask them to switch first.
Network requirements
The app talks to vdr.valutico.com, api.vdr.valutico.com, hocuspocus.vdr.valutico.com for live collaboration, the sign-in domain auth.vdr.valutico.com and, for documents, Amazon S3 in the eu-west-1 region, all over HTTPS. Company firewalls, data-loss-prevention proxies and some VPNs intercept or block one of these, most often the S3 storage domain, which breaks previews and uploads while the rest of the app still works. Ask your IT team to allow those hosts, or use a network without the proxy.
Availability and limitations
- A temporary password issued by an administrator is valid for 7 days. After that, use Forgot password? to set a new one.
- Two-factor authentication cannot be switched off by a user while the organisation requires it.
- The Deal Portal sign-in used by buyers offers email and password only, no Google or Valutico sign-in.
- Leaving an organisation is possible from the profile page unless it is your only one.
If something goes wrong
Use Forgot password?; a six-digit code is emailed to you and you set a new password in the same screen. If the code email does not arrive, check spam and quarantine; corporate mail filters sometimes hold messages from new senders. After several failed attempts the app pauses sign-in for a while with Too many attempts.
The account was created but the six-digit verification code was never entered. Enter the code from that email, or select Resend code. Until it is verified, sign-in cannot complete.
Something between your browser and the app is blocking requests, typically a VPN, a proxy or a browser extension. Try without the VPN, in a private window with extensions disabled, or on another network. If only previews or uploads fail, the S3 storage domain is the one being blocked; see Network requirements above.
The inactivity timeout signed you out; the page says how long it was. Sign in again to continue. Admins can lengthen the timeout up to 48 hours under Profile › Security.
Your account now belongs to two organisations and is showing the new one. Open the account menu, select Switch Organization, and switch back. If the previous organisation is missing from the list, contact support with the invitation email.
The valuation platform and Valutico VDR are separate applications with separate accounts. Use the password you set for Valutico VDR, or Forgot password? if you never set one.
