Find and open documents

Browse the numbered folders, search the data room, and read documents in the viewer.

Everything shared with your group is in the Dataroom, organised as numbered folders. Open documents in the built-in viewer; you do not need to download anything to read it.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Use the Folders tree on the left or the list on the right to open a folder. The list shows when each document was Uploaded; select the column header to sort by it, for example to find what was added recently. A folder shows 50 documents at first; in a large folder, select Load more until everything is listed before you sort. The display options menu at the right of the breadcrumb shows or hides columns. The breadcrumb at the top shows where you are; select an earlier part of it, or the .. row, to go back up.
    Each document carries its index number, for example 1.1.1.1.1.Display options2.Columns to show
  2. To search, type in Search this data room…. Results come from the text inside documents as well as their names.
  3. Select a document, or the eye icon in its row, to open it in the viewer. Page through it with the arrows, zoom, and use Search in document to find a passage. The Files list on the left switches between documents in the same folder. To ask the deal team about the document you are reading, select Ask about this file in the Questions panel; the document is attached to the question for you.

Check the result

The document's name appears in the breadcrumb and in a tab above the page. Close the tab, or select a folder in the breadcrumb, to return to the list.

If something goes wrong

A folder or document you expected is missing

You only see what the deal team shared with your group. Ask them to grant access; the portal does not show locked items.

Preview isn't available for this file

Some formats cannot be shown in the browser. Readable files open as plain text; for others the viewer offers Download and Try again. If your group may not download the file, selecting Download tells you so.

You don't have permission to download this file

Downloads are switched on per group and per folder by the deal team; every file shows the download icon, and the permission is checked when you select it. Ask the deal team if you need a copy. See Download documents.

Could not load folders, Failed to load files or Search failed

The portal could not reach the data room for a moment. Select Retry, or reload the page. If it keeps failing, contact the deal team.
