Ask the deal team a question

Raise a question, link it to a document, follow its status and get emailed when it is answered.

Updated 29 Sep 20262 min read

Questions go to the deal team through the portal's Q&A page, so both sides keep one record of what was asked and answered. Only your group sees your questions.

Before you start

  • You have signed in and can see the documents your question is about.

Steps

  1. The most precise way to ask is from the document itself: open it in the viewer and select Ask about this file in the Questions panel. The document is attached to the question automatically.
Questions already asked about the document are listed here first.
  2. For a general question, open Q&A from the left menu and select Ask a question. If the deal team set a monthly limit for your group, Questions left this month shows next to the button; the allowance is shared by your group and resets at the start of each month. Give it a short Title, write Your question with document names, pages or figures where you can, and optionally Add a reference from a document. Set a priority and a Category if useful. Submit question sends it; Save draft keeps it as a draft that everyone in your team can see and submit.
The deal team typically responds within 24 hours.
  3. Follow the question on the Q&A page. Awaiting answer, Answered and Closed under Quick access filter by status; your team's unsent drafts are under Drafts.
Status moves from Submitted to In Progress while the deal team works on it, then to Answered.
  4. To be emailed when an answer is published, open the bell icon in the left menu and turn on Answer published under Q&A Activity. The setting applies to this deal only.
    Notification preferences are per deal.

Check the result

Your question appears on the Q&A page with status Submitted. When the deal team publishes an answer, the status reads Answered and the answer, with any documents they attached, opens under the question.

If something goes wrong

Ask a question is greyed out

Hover over it for the reason. Q&A is not available for your team means the deal team has turned Q&A off for your group; your earlier questions and answers stay readable. Your team has used all of its questions for this month means your group reached its monthly limit; ask again after the reset, or contact the deal team. The same applies to Ask about this file and Ask a follow-up.

You want to change a question after sending it

Submitted questions cannot be edited. Ask a new question and mention the earlier one; the deal team can close the first.
